2022: New release: „Berlin, Germany“ by the BROEDE SCHIRMER UNIT on the British label FMR Records.

2021; With FOUR ON THE OUTSIDE release of „Inside“; this year also saw the first solo album: „Mat Broede Solo Vol.1“

2020: Start of the new MATTHIAS BROEDE CHAMBER TRIO with Insa Schirmer – Violoncello & Frank Wingold – Guitar.

2019: Start of a new Berlin based Quartet the BROEDE SCHIRMER UNIT with Tobias Schirmer, Jan Roder, Bernd Oezsevim.

2017: New release: „Where is Wedding“ by BROEDE KALIMA SCHRÖDER

2015: Together with Finnish guitarist KALLE KALIMA & multi-instrumentalist JOHN SCHRÖDER (here playing drums) MATTHIAS BROEDE is winner of the Sudio Award Jazz 2015 given by the Senate of Berlin. In the same year they recorded the next album „Where is Wedding ?“

2013: He moved to Berlin, where he was working with musicians like Kalle Kalima, Greg Cohen, John Schröder, Jan Roder, Yorgos Dimitriadis, Gerhard Gschlössl, Rolf Langhans & Martin Lillich among others.

2013: As an improviser Matthias Broede was the winner of the WDR Jazz Award. This award – one of the most important jazz awards in Europe – is given by the West German Public Radio (WDR) and is selcted during a “Blindfold Listening” by an international jury of musicians and journalist.

2011: He recorded his album “Instinct to Play” (released on the label Jazzwerkstatt) with Claudio Puntin (clarinet, bass clarinet), Oliver Potratz (bass) and Alex Huber (drums) in Berlin.

From 2008 until 2012 he was living in Barcelona. There he recorded the album „Space Between Intervals“ (Quadrant Records) with Italian drummer Roberto Faenzi and Catalan bassist Jordi Gaspar.

He worked with the MATTHIAS BROEDE GROUP feat. tenorist Paul Heller (now playing with the WDR Big Band in Cologne) and with Wolfgang Engstfeld, Joachim Schönecker, Roland Höppner, Peter Weiss, Volker Heinze

He played at festivals like Leverkusener Jazztage, Jazzfestival Hilden, Jazz in Eberswalde , Hot Jazz Meeting Düsseldorf , Jazzfestival in San Sebastian , Vall d’Uixo & Teruel – all the three in Spain – and in many Jazzclubs around Europe.

1990 – 2007 he was living in Cologne, being an important member of the growing Jazz scene of the city.

1980 – 1990 he studied Classical Piano at the consevatory in Karlsruhe and Jazz at the conservatory in Cologne; he worked with Norbert Gottschalk, Axel Fischbacher, Rosani Reis, Kurt Bilker and many others during this time.
